Howdy!
Cookies have been a part of my life long before Cookies by Halle ever existed. Growing up, one of my favorite traditions was getting all of my family together to spend the day making Christmas cookies. It was always a little chaotic, usually messy, and something I looked forward to every December.
My love for decorated cookies really started with my aunt. She started her own cookie business, Sperry Cookie Company, and watching her turn something so creative into an actual business made me want to try it for myself. She has since moved on from the cookie world, but she’s a huge part of the reason I ever picked up a piping bag in the first place.
Cookies by Halle actually started as a hobby during my sophomore year of college. Since my aunt was no longer making cookies, my mom had the idea for me to make the cookies for my brother’s college graduation party from Texas A&M, Whoop! The only catch was that his party was just two weeks away, and I had never made a decorated cookie set before (this wasn’t anything like the lightbulbs and stockings I decorated at Christmas). When my mom gave me the news, she told me I better get to practicing, and that’s exactly what I did. Two weeks later, I made my very first set of decorated cookies for his party.
After his graduation party, the overflowing love and support from my family and friends encouraged me to keep going. What started as me simply trying something new quickly became something I wanted to pursue, and not long after, Cookies by Halle was officially born.
At the time, I had no idea that making that first set would lead me here. But somewhere along the way, that little college hobby completely changed my life. What started as something I did just because I loved being creative grew into Cookies by Halle and became something I truly couldn’t imagine my life without.
I’ve always loved being creative, so cookies quickly became one of my favorite creative outlets. I love coming up with designs, playing with colors, and figuring out how to turn someone’s idea into a cookie. It’s so special knowing that the excitement I felt every year on cookie day is the same kind of excitement my customers get when they come to pick up their order.
And somehow, after all these years, I’m still happiest with a cookie and a piping bag in front of me.
